The countdown is nearly over for a unique policy at a Wiregrass health care facility.
Beginning next Monday on New Year’s Day, Mizell Memorial will ban all tobacco products from hospital grounds.
The tobacco ban affects all building structures including parking lots, employees, patients and visitors.
Housekeeper Misty Stanton is in the process of kicking her habit.
She says the new policy was the deciding factor to quit smoking.
“I think that it’s something good that Mizell is about to put into effect. It has made me more aware to quit, and awareness of the best health makes a cleanly environment," Stanton said.
Personnel who violate the no tobacco policy are subject to disciplinary action.
