Thousands of shoppers headed to Dothan for after Christmas shopping. Retailers are ready for the big crowds Tuesday, Wednesday and the weekend.

Brenda Nave of Taylor got some great after Christmas deals on toys and gift wrap.

She and her daughter laced up their tennis shoes to continue their annual tradition of hitting the stores early for after Christmas bargains.

“Time for me and my daughter to get time together and save money,” said Nave.

Brenda wasn't alone. Hundreds of other shoppers headed to Wal-Mart stores to return gifts and take advantage of great sales.

If you're returning a gift to Wal-Mart, enter the store in the middle of the building to receive a gift card.

Wal-Mart Manager Mary McKenzie said, “We expect to get busy this afternoon and tonight and later in the week and the weekend.”

Across town, the Wiregrass Commons Mall opened an hour early. Shoppers waited outside stores to return items and get good deals.

Wal-Mart and mall officials both say their returns have been down over the last few years. They credit that to increased gift card sales during the holiday shopping season.
