ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Pinellas County authorities are investigating the death of an infant who died in a house fire.
Sheriff officials say four-month-old Marques Rediker was sleeping in a bedroom when the blaze was discovered shortly before nine last night.
Investigators say the baby's mother went to check on her son and found the room engulfed in flames.
The boy's mother and his grandmother were unable to get him because of smoke and flames.
Detectives say the home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene.
The baby's body was discovered after the fire was extinguished.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities don't believe the fire is suspicious, but an investigation into the cause continues.
