The Dothan City School Board was expected to vote on a potential pay raise for Northview Principal Ron Snell Monday. But that will have to wait for a "future work session," according to Superintendent Sam Nichols.

Dr. Nichols requested to have the item removed from the personnel section of the board agenda at a special board meeting at Heard Elementary School Monday.

He says more work needs to be done on studying competitive salaries. Nichols added that he would like to have the vote when all board members were able to attend. Gayla White and Brenda Guilford had previous engagements and could not be at Monday's meeting.

Snell's contract was automatically renewed July 1st for another 3 years without the need for board approval. Nichols says a principal needs to be given 90 days notice to break a contract.

No date has been set to renew talks. The suggested $12,000 increase in pay would bump Snell to $105,000 annually.
