Two in Custody After Florida Mall Shooting

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Two men are in custody after a fatal
shooting at a Florida mall on Christmas Eve.

21-year-old Jesse Cesar of Lake Worth shot 23-year-old Berno Charlemond to death during a fight at the Boynton Beach Mall north of Miami, as Christmas shoppers dove for cover. Police say Cesar also fired at them as they chased him through the shopping center.

Cesar barricaded himself in a store and refused to surrender when officers contacted him through the public address system. He later gave up.

He's charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder of a police officer.

Twenty-year-old Fregens Daniel also was arrested. He's charged with acting as a principal accessory in the case.

Police say it's a miracle that no one else was injured.

They're not sure what started the fight. One witness says she saw ten to 15 people scuffling before the shots rang out.
