Honda Expansion

Honda Motor Company is expected to announce Tuesday that it will spend up to $500 million to double production at its plant in Talladega County and add another 2,000 workers.

The Birmingham News and New York Times regional newspapers are reporting that the state would offer Honda about $90 million in incentives, mostly in tax breaks and worker training.

The expansion would boost the number of automobile manufacturing and supply jobs in Alabama to 36,000.

Honda officials in Alabama and California declined to confirm the expansion plans.
