Florida voters think schools are overcrowded and in need of fixing, but they aren't willing to foot the bill.
Voters say improving education is the most important problem facing Florida, even more important than health care, crime and fighting terrorism. Yet they rejected increasing sales or property taxes.
The other measure seeks to put a cap on class sizes. More voters chose crowded classes and schools over other factors as the biggest problems facing schools.
Only 28 percent of those polled said public education has improved under Governor Jeb Bush's leadership. Fifty-five percent said education has stayed the same or gotten worse under Bush.
The survey of 807 registered voters who voted in recent elections was taken June 18 through June 26 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
