Northwest Florida Community Hospital

By a three to two vote, the Washington County Commission turned down a request to negotiate the sale of the hospital to a Georgia based company.

Philip Eastman is president of Georgia based Resurgence Health Group.

Last Spring, the Washington County Commission chose Sacred Heart of Pensacola to take over Northwest Florida Community Hospital. However, Sacred Heart would pull out of the deal.

Once again, Resurgence is offering to pay between seven and eight million dollars to buy the Chipley facility in addition to taking over three million dollars in hospital debt, but the commission rejected a move to negotiate exclusively with Resurgence. That didn't sit well with many in the audience.

There's no word on whether Resurgence will enter another bid to buy Northwest Florida Community Hospital. The Washington County Commission will accept bids up until October 23 for either buying or leasing the hospital.
