Florida Frozen Crops

Efforts to save citrus in central Florida from freezing temperatures can also be found in the Wiregrass.

Bobby Helms intentionally placed his one-year-old orange trees under a sheet of ice.

By doing so, it provides needed heat to the young plants.

Helms plans to re-freeze the trees with the mercury expected to drop into the mid-to-upper teens.

Helms hope they'll survive this artic air mass which has settled over southeast Alabama.
