District Two Commissioner John Glanton first took office in October of 1973.
Over the past 30 years, he's seen the Circle City nearly double in size, and services have expanded to meet that growth, eight new schools, the opening of the Dothan Civic Center, three wastewater treatment plants, two new recreation centers and the list goes on.
Glanton says racial tensions made him apprehensive when he first took office, but the Dothan City Commission worked as a team and he's proud to have served the people of Dothan for three decades.
District Six Commissioner Matt Bullard also leaves office Tuesday.
A reception to honor both Glanton and Bullard is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Dothan's Wiregrass Museum of Art.
