Jackson County authorities are still looking for leads in the murder of a Cypress man whose body was found floating in the Chipola River a year ago.
A fisherman spotted the body of 62-year-old Benjamin Cowherd near the Christoff Ferry Landing on December 5 of last year.
The victim's Chevrolet Blazer was found submerged nearby in about 18 feet of water.
Investigators say Cowherd was shot to death, and though money was found on him, his wallet was stolen, and his credit card was used within hours after he was killed.
The card was used for gas twice at a Tom Thumb Food Store in Cottondale.
A suspect also unsuccessfully tried to use Cowherd's credit card at an Anytime-Teller machine.
Cowherd was a social worker and drug counselor.
Investigators believe his body had been in the river for about 24 hours before it was found.
Crimestoppers is still offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information in the case. If you have information, call 850-526-5000.
