GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - The sheriff in Gadsden, Alabama, says the mother who reported that her son was asleep in the back of a car when it was stolen will be charged with murder along with her boyfriend.
Police are holding Shalinda Glass and Kevin Towles, who is believed to own the house where the boy's body was found Tuesday. The body and the car that was reported stolen Monday were found in a garage at the house.
The sheriff says Towles was believed to be the "main player" in the boy's death. Authorities aren't sure what happened, but police say Towles has a criminal record and appears to have be "an abusive boyfriend of the mother."
The sheriff says officers also found in the house more than 30-thousand dollars in cash, a small amount of cocaine, marijuana residue and weapons including an AK-47.
The sheriff says he expects others to be arrested.
