MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A state inmate, who police consider
dangerous, escaped from the Elba work release center Monday.

Brian Corbett, a spokesman for the Department of Corrections, said Jerry Joyner escaped yesterday morning after stealing a car from a worker at Pilgrim's Pride in Enterprise.

Corbett said the vehicle is a 1996 light green Ford Escort.

Joyner, who is 42, was serving a prison sentence for a theft
conviction in Houston County.
