PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - His family says a soldier from Panama City Beach was killed in Iraq hours after communicating with his wife and children via webcam.

Army Captain Shawn English enjoyed a rare family chat with his wife and three young sons via webcam from Iraq this weekend, laughing and telling jokes. Hours later, Army officers came to the family's home and said he had been killed by a roadside bomb.

The 35-year-old English was training Iraqi Army officers and told his family he had seen heavy combat in recent weeks.

English was an Army deep-sea diver based in Panama City Beach where he lived with his wife and their three young sons.

He spent nearly all his adult life in the Army, first as an enlisted soldier, then as a commissioned officer after attending college. He served in an armored cavalry unit during the first Gulf War, later joined a Ranger battalion and became a diver in 1999.
