Stolen Money Orders

The Houston County Sheriff's Department is warning businesses to be on the lookout for stolen money orders.

A man and a woman entered the Breeze-In Mart on Jordan Avenue in Cowarts earlier this week and asked to buy a money order.

But, while the clerk was handling the transaction, the woman took a bank bag with 34 blank money orders from the counter and gave it to the man who then left the store.

The woman then claimed she had to get money from her car and never came back.

Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. If you have information and would like to collect the reward, call 793-7000.
