Oldcastle Precast Incorporated will construct a 45,000 square foot building adjacent to the Family Dollar distribution facility in Marianna. It will eventually result in more than 100 new jobs.
This week, work crews cleared this 15-acre site near the Highway 276 and I-10 interchange. It's only a few hundred yards from the new Family Dollar distribution center in Marianna.
Oldcastle Precast Incorporated is an American subsidiary of a Dublin, Ireland company which manufactures plastic and concrete pipe used in the construction industry:
"Bring in long sustainable jobs...110 over five years and this is the type of industry, and the type of jobs that we are looking for," said Art Kimbrough of Jackson Co. Chamber of Commerce.
Within five-years, the company hopes to have more than 100 employees at its Marianna facility. Plans are to spend around ten-million dollars on the plant.
Jackson Co. Administrator Ted Lakey said,"Family dollar has four-hundred; Arizona chemical has a distribution facility there and now Oldcastle will bring in more than 100 new jobs."
"This is bringing in a new type, and new aspect into the local economy. We are getting away from what was an agricultural economy here," said Kimbrough.
The Jackson County facility is expected to supply the building industry across the tri-state area.
The company's plan to build its manufacturing plant is expected to be discussed next Tuesday night at the Marianna city council meeting.
