Benjamin Hearing

court, trial, jury

A trial date has been set for a Dothan man charged with capital murder.

Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Benjamin was back in court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing. He's accused in the November 2000 shooting death and robbery of 52-year-old Jimmy Floyd Lewis.

The Ozark man was gunned down in the parking lot of Wiregrass Commons Mall.

Benjamin was arrested three weeks later, after a search of his mobile home turned up the victim's wallet, credit cards and a possible murder weapon.

Investigators say Benjamin became a suspect after he allegedly bragged about the crime. The case will go to trial in February 2004.
