Five local schools are receiving money to help them purchase items to enhance students' learning.
The money is from the state of Alabama Education Trust Fund and amounts to $2000 dollars per school.
Northview High School, the Dothan Technology Center, Montana Street, Carver Magnet, Landmark and Faine Elementary all received funding.
They each plan to use the money to help with their reading initiatives.
“We're talking $2000 dollars that will benefit the students by getting books for the media center,” said Principal Willie Brown of Landmark Elementary.
More money has already been appropriated for these same schools for March of this year. State Representative Locy Baker says they can expect even more funding than this time.
