Education Budget

Lucy Baxley

A $4.2 billion education budget is being debated in the Alabama Legislature, but there's some disagreement about it among lawmakers.

The education budget has already passed the Senate.

Lt. Gov. Lucy Baxley was in Dothan Tuesday and says there were complaints from state senators during Monday's budget debate. They wanted to see funding for items such as textbooks.

But, Baxley says there's just not enough money to cover everything.

If the education budget passes the House, it will go back to the Senate for approval or rejection on some minor changes made to it by the House Committee.
