Trustee Budget Cuts

Prisoners at work

In recent weeks, you've probably heard that some Alabama inmates may be released early because there isn't enough money in the state's treasury to keep them behind bars.

Some worry paroling prisoners could take a toll on the state's appearance.

That's because non-violent inmates provide a variety of services that help keep cities like Eufaula looking good.

City leaders there say the prisoners save Eufaula $117,000 a year. They also say they could find themselves unable to use inmates services if there isn't enough funding to pay those who supervise them.
