Alabama Require School Bus Safety Check

Federal officials are still investigating the fatal bus accident. Alabama requires each school district to conduct safety checks of its buses.

The Enterprise City School Board has received results of its safety check on buses. Administrative Assistant Bob Tomberlin says the district passed.

A comprehensive review of all 60 buses indicates only minimal problems, which have all been corrected.

"They inspected our 60 buses, and no major deficiencies were found. You can see a breakdown on page two. The state's goal is not to have more than 24 percent in Alabama with major deficiencies. Here in Enterprise we're lucky. No, we're good," said Tomberlin.

Besides the state review, Enterprise school mechanics conduct periodic safety checks on the bus fleet.
