Christmas has arrived several weeks early in one Wiregrass city.
The U.S Rural Development office has allotted an additional $140,000 for improvements at the Geneva Municipal Airport.
The money is earmarked for the construction of 10 hangers.
Before this additional money the federal dollars fell short of the amount needed to do the work.
Over the years, local aviators have looked for airports that rent hanger space.
Construction is expected to bring increased business to Geneva.
"As I understand there have been several grant extensions made. Due to the increase in construction and material costs due primarily to the hurricanes," said Lee Brown of North Star Engineering.
Construction on Geneva’s new hangers is expected to get underway early next year.
