With many holiday events taking place on or near a body of water, Alabama's Marine Police will be working overtime.

Captain John Clifton says officers in the Tennessee Valley district have five fireworks displays to monitor on July 4th.

At the other end of the state, Marine police are preparing for 10,000 vessels in Mobile Bay for the tall ship parade.

Clifton says all of the holiday events are getting special attention -- he said officers will be working closely with the FBI, Public Safety Department and local authorities on homeland security issues.

Officers will be watching close for imparied boaters. The legal blood alcohol limit for operating a boat is the same for motorists -- .08.
