Jackson County Teachers

A hearing date has been set for Jackson County teachers and support personnel to voice their grievances in a long running salary dispute with school officials.

Union representatives set up a picket line last month after negotiations between the two sides broke down.

The teachers say they may be the only educators in Florida who don't get a raise this year and they claim the school board could solve the problem with just ten percent of a five million dollar contingency fund.

But School Superintendent Danny Sims says most of that money has already been budgeted.

A public hearing to resolve the dispute is tentatively set for July 30th in Marianna.

School board members will have the final say on whether the raises are approved.
