The city of Ozark is looking to change the way they allow sweepstakes businesses in the city.
The city is set to vote on an ordinance that would set up a license procedure for anyone wanting to open a sweepstakes business.
Under the new ordinance, the owner would pay a fee plus an additional tax gross receipt.
Each machine must be registered under the ordinance, and each one is subject to be taxed.
“We'll certainly follow whatever the court says and the state law says. In the meantime, we just need to have a licensing procedure for this business, which we don't have now,” said Billy Blackwell of City Clerk.
The city council is set to vote Tuesday night at the council meeting.
