An Ashford man convicted of capital murder was sentenced to die Tuesday.
Heath McCray was found guilty in October of the stabbing death of his former girlfriend.
Brandy Bachelder's body was found in her Dothan mobile home in August of last year. The same jury that convicted McCray unanimously recommended the death penalty.
Defense attorneys asked Judge Ed Jackson to spare McCray’s life. However both prosecutors and the victim's mother asked for death.
Before sentencing McCray to die, Judge Jackson called the crime "the most hideous" he's ever seen.
