Drainage Improvement

A decision on whether one local businessman can receive city funds for development has a resolution.

In a four to three vote, Dothan City Commissioners approved funding for drainage improvement for a piece of property located near the Golden Corral Restaurant on Ross Clark Circle.

Earl Durden had requested that the city help pay part of the $52,000 cost to fix the water problem that's preventing him from building a restaurant on the property.

Two city commissioners have differing views on whether the city should bear any cost in helping those trying to develop private land, even if it brings jobs to Dothan.

The decision came as city officials were trying to determine how to cut Dothan's budget over the next two years.
