The city of Dothan’s environmental services crews are delivering new garbage carts to some addresses.
Residents included in this round will have their garbage picked up for the first time by the new automated system on December 4th.
The carts will continue to be gradually implemented into the community for about the next six months.
The program will decrease the amount of workers needed to collect garbage, thereby saving the city and taxpayers money.
“We've started implementing to deploy the carts we started on the northeast side and those carts will be picked up on Mondays,” said Director Jerry Corbin of Public Works
The city plans to have the automated garbage system completely up and running throughout the city by July of next year.
