The Wiregrass United States Marine Corps is holding its first ever Toys for Tots drive.

All the toys collected will go to children in the area. This is the first time the drive is being held in the Wiregrass. Members of the organization are glad to help make the holidays special for all children.

“It's a good event cause its going to help children and families, irregardless of why we gather toys by donation and package them for the parents,” said Frank Freeland of Wiregrass Toys for Tots coordinator.

Toy collection bins are set up in Dothan at the Movie Galleries, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Longhorn, Toys-R-Us, and Kaybee Toys in Dothan. The city of Cottonwood is collecting toys at LIberty Convenience Stores and Fred's in Abbeville will also have a bin to drop off toys.

Collections will continue through December 15th.

Applications to receive toys from the drive start December first from 9 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon at the Houston County DHR. Dothan Cities Headstart program will take completed applications on December 8 from 9 until 3 and the Alfred Saliba Family Center will be taking Toys for Tots applicatons December 13 from 9 until 3.
