The Dothan City School System is not in a crisis but an education consultant says it could be if things don't change.
That was the word Tuesday at the Chamber of Commerce meeting from Dr. Jesse Register, consultant for the Dothan City Schools.
Dr. Register is a former superintendent of Chattanooga, Tennessee schools where they recently went through a successful transformation.
He plans on looking at a lot of areas before considering consolidation.
“What we're about is planning process for reforming secondary education and looking at high school part and also middle school and modernizing if you will secondary education,” said Dr. Register.
Part of that modernization will be to prepare high school students to enter the workforce upon graduation.
Reportedly, 70 percent of Dothan high school graduates don't go to college.
