The busiest shopping day of the year is a little more than two weeks away and one Wiregrass city has come up with a unique way to keep spending dollars within their community.
Geneva Police Chief Frankie Lindsey bought several city gift certificates from Town Clerk Lisa Johnson.
The certificates are redeemable at more than 70 Geneva businesses.
Some feel the campaign will help keep money flowing to Dothan and other area cities.
"For the businesses to prosper, area residents need to shop Geneva and Geneva County businesses. We have about 150 in Geneva County. They offer an awful lot in regard to needs for the people," said George Lindenmuth of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce.
The certificates can be purchased at the clerk's office at Geneva City Hall.
