Eleven Houston County residents have been arrested for stealing more than $44,000 of state welfare money.
Those arrested received welfare benefits they were not entitled to by allegedly falsifying financial documents.
If they are found guilty, each could face two to 20 years in prison.
"The bottom line is we're going to go after you, so don't do it. If you're not sure, check it out and make sure before you falsify documents or put information down that's not correct or claim income or not claim income and you should. That's the bottom line; it’s easy to prevent. Just don't do it," said District Attorney Doug Valeska of 20th Circuit, Henry-Houston.
If you know of anyone committing this type of crime, call Crime Stoppers at 793-7000 for up to a $1000 dollar reward.
