Many Dale County leaders were at the courtroom today, but it wasn't for a trial.

The Dale County Sheriff’s Department got together with people in the community to celebrate the retirement of its captain of patrols, Judy Trawick.

Trawick has worked with the sheriff's department for 35 years, and while performing numerous jobs, she has paved the way for women in law enforcement as the first female captain for the department.

“I'm so pleased. I feel good and excited. I said I wasn't going to cry, and I didn't because this is a joyous occasion,” says Trawick.

Trawick says she doesn't plan on taking it easy.

She is already planning quality time to spend with her family, and getting more involved with her church.
