The Wiregrass United Way has reached the mid-point of its annual campaign, and to date they've raised 61 percent of their goal.
In a campaign report meeting, CEO Walther Hill and Campaign Chair Mike Schmitz told supporting organizations more than $1.5 million has been collected.
There are 37 companies are involved in the campaign, and the money that's donated is utilized locally in a five county area.
Hill says this time last year, only 55 percent of the goal had been met, so united way volunteers must be doing something right.
"We asked every company to raise a little bit more than last year and they have. So when you add that up, it starts helping out tremendously," says Hill.
The goal for the 2007 campaign is $2.5 million. To find out how you can help call 792-9661.
