The Washington County Florida Commission is laying groundwork for a hearing on the proposed sale of Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley.
The public will be able to voice their opinions during the hearing.
This has become a controversial subject in the Panhandle community over the last few months.
That's because the county wants to sell the facility to Sacred Heart Hospital for one dollar.
The commission also tentatively agreed to "pay" Sacred Heart $7 million for them to take over ownership of the county-owned hospital.
But, a local citizen's group brought a lawsuit against the county in an effort to block the sale of the hospital.
Judge Glenn Hess heard the case and ordered a public hearing to be held in Washington County to get the public's input.
That hearing will be held at the Washington County Agricultural Center in Chipley. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18.
