One of Dothan’s busiest streets is getting a much-needed makeover.
Work began Monday to resurface a four-mile section of Oates Street.
The project will run South from Reeves Street to Ross Clark Circle.
Workers are grinding away the old asphalt and putting down a new layer of blacktop as they go.
More than 20,000 cars cross Main Street on Oates each day.
The project is costing more than $820,000, but city officials say no local tax-dollars are being used.
The project will take about a month and a half to complete.
Motorists are being urged to use side streets whenever possible to avoid traffic tie-ups.
