Troy's Internet Sweepstakes License Revoked

The city of Troy has put a stop to the only Internet sweepstakes business in the city.

The Troy City Council voted last night to revoke the business license of H&H Prepaid Internet on the basis that the owner, Henry Weiman, did not tell of the sweepstakes gaming aspect to the city when applying for the license.

Weiman argues the sweepstakes are solely to promote the sale of the prepaid Internet.

City leaders also passed a business license code that would regulate licenses for sweepstakes gaming. Part of the new ordinance applies fees to the sweepstakes machines. It will be $250 per machine for the first four and up to $10,000 per machine for 26 machines or more, in order to get a license.
