Dothan Airport

The Dothan Regional Airport won't be opening their new terminal anytime soon.

That's because new federal guidelines set by the Transportation Security Administration require some major changes. Those changes have not yet been determined, but they will have to do with security concerns.

Airport officials don't have an idea when the new terminal will open, but the TSA gave the airport a deadline of Oct. 31 to have the new security measures in place.

All 430 commercial airports in the country are subject to these new requirements.

The federal government is picking up the bill for the new additions.

The airport will soon be hiring.

That announcement was made by Senator Richard Shelby and the transportation security administration.

Dothan is one of four airports in Alabama where federal security screeners will be hired.

The job will involve identifying dangerous objects in baggage and on passengers.

The salary ranges from $23,000 to more than $35,000 a year.

If you would like more information just log www.tsa.gov or call toll free at 1-877-631-5627, do not call the Dothan Airport. The positions will be filled by Nov. 19.
