Record Breaking Sales

Wal-Mart and other discounters had the strongest sales, attracting crowds with specials on TVs, DVD players and toys.

But department stores and mall-based retailers were discounting less than they did last year, and their business was uneven.

A retail industry analyst says sales were "pretty good" but not spectacular, with department and clothing stores lagging behind discounters.

But you couldn't tell that by the shoppers at Wiregrass Commons Mall this weekend.

Many shoppers were lugging around armfuls of purchases.

Some shopper’s say when it comes to spending money they're being cautious while others are saying "charge it."

Wal-Mart says it took in one-point-52 billion dollars on Friday, which is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year.

That’s a new one-day sales record for the retailer.

And that's also about 100 million dollars more than the discount chain rang up on the day after thanksgiving last year.
