The U.S. Army Air Traffic Services Command, or ATS-COM, was activated at Fort Rucker on Thursday. ATS-COM provides air space management and air traffic services support to Army Warfighters. The new command, lead by Colonel Don Adkins, will provide unified leadership and control for air traffic services operations, training and maintenance for the Army around the world.
The Friends of Fort Rucker and military officials have been competing for years with other military installations for this command. Ozark mayor Bob Bunting says this is good news for economic development in the Wiregrass because members of this organization will buy homes and raise their families in the area for years to come.
