Dothan Teacher Fired

The Dothan School Board decided last night to fire a Northview High School teacher accused of assaulting a student.

In a private meeting, board members met for over six hours to reach their decision on terminating 25-year-old Jason Woodham's contract.

It all stems from an altercation with a student two months ago.

School officials say the Northview High English teacher apparently lost his temper and pushed a student after being talked back to in class.

Woodham was in his second year of teaching at Northview. The decision comes after Woodham resigned and then withdrew his resignation. School officials say a replacement for Woodham will be hired sometime before the next school year begins.

No word on whether Woodham will appeal the board's decision.
