Alabama Forestry Tax Plan

Forests, Trees.jpg

The executive vice president of the Alabama Forestry Association spoke to the Dothan Rotary Club Monday about why he thinks the package should not pass.

He says the governor would send more money to Montgomery that wouldn't be accounted for.

John McMillan told more than 150 rotarians that there weren't enough safeguards in the package and before they voted on the proposal there needs to be fundamental changes in state government.

If the package doesn’t pass, he said the legislatures can fix the problem with no unfair burdens on the people of Alabama.

McMillan said the effect of the package on the forestry business would be catastrophic due to the higher taxes.
