Jones Trial

Attorneys for a Dothan man charged with capital murder say they'll try to move the trial away from the Circle City.

Twenty-year-old Antonio Jones was arrested on New Year's Eve of 1999 while driving the victim's car.

Eighty-year-old Ruth Kirkland had been beaten to death in her home just a few hours earlier.

Sources say DNA evidence links Jones to the crime.

Defense attorneys told Judge Jerry White they want the trial moved because of all of the publicity surrounding the case.

The defense has also filed a motion to sequester the jury during the trial and bar access to news media reports about the case.

Judge White says he'll rule on the motions later.
