Tri State Plant Food

break in 200x120

Dothan police are investigating the attempted theft of anhydrous ammonia from a local fertilizer plant.

Investigators say the crime at Tri-State Plant Food could have caused major environmental problems for the surrounding area.

Someone climbed the main fence at the plant, then cut through a fence surrounding tanks that store thousands of gallons of anhydrous ammonia.

Police say the gas is a major component in manufacturing illegal methamphetamine.

Police believe the suspects were frightened away before they could follow through with the crime.
