An Alabama man was killed Tuesday when a tractor accidentally ran over him. He was identified as 23-year-old Casey Deon Grantham of Andalusia.
The Florida Highway Patrol said at the time of the accident, the victim was helping lay sod for a stormwater retention pond in Crestview, Florida.
Grantham, employed by Brewton-based Suncoast Sod Farms, was in
front of a tractor when driver Salvador Botello Perez, also of Brewton, released a large roll of sod.
Authorities said Perez then began to back the tractor while Grantham went behind it for reasons that are unclear.
Florida state troopers said their investigation continues, but there was no indication of foul play.
