Traffic Lights

An increase in traffic has prompted Houston County Commissioners to take more steps to improve a couple of intersections on the West side of Dothan.

The commission has voted to authorize the installation of traffic lights at the intersections of Brannon Stand Road and Trawick Road, and Brannon Stand Road and Fortner Street.

Traffic along Brannon Stand Road has increased 15 to 20 percent in the past couple of years because of increased development in the area.

Four-way stop signs were put up at the intersections earlier this year.

Work on the red lights should begin by this time next year.

The project at each intersection will cost about $200,000 and will be paid for with state and local funds.
