A Newton man is in jail for allegedly killing a Wicksburg woman.
Dale County authorities say the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
They say 34-year-old Christopher Hawthorne reportedly shot 37-year-old Patricia Tomlin in the head with a .22 caliber rifle.
He is in the Dale County Jail charged with murder.
Houston County authorities had notified police before the murder to be on the lookout for Tomlin's white pick-up truck because her mom was worried about her.
Officials say the two were at the boat ramp near the Newton Bridge when the shooting took place.
Then Newton police saw Hawthorne drive the truck past the police station so they followed him and pulled him over.
That's when they found Tomlin in the cab of the truck.
Hawthorne will make his first appearance in court Thursday morning.
