Senators had better catch up on their sleep while they can.
Senate Republicans are planning a 30-hour marathon debate beginning Wednesday to highlight what they see as Democratic obstructionism on the president's judicial nominees.
It has been eleven years since the last all-night filibuster, but conservative Republicans feel the marathon is needed to highlight the ongoing problem.
Democrats counter by calling the GOP plan a political stunt. They note they have confirmed 168 of the president's judicial nominees and are holding up only the ones they feel are too extreme. They say using the all-nighter to focus on judicial nominations is a waste of time that could be better spent on dealing with pocketbook issues.
