Ozark Counterfeit

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a counterfeit scheme in the Wiregrass.

One suspect was arrested after her picture was shown on WTVY News 4.

Twenty-nine-year-old Maria Ann Williams of Ozark turned herself into police after investigators got a tip from a caller who saw Williams on the 6 p.m. newscast last night.

Police say counterfeit $100 bills started turning up in the Ozark area around the first of August.

They were not of particularly good quality and all of them carried the same serial number.

Five of the bills have already been recovered and investigators are warning merchants to be on the lookout in case more of the fake currency is still in circulation.

The two other suspects are 24-year-old Kenike Shipman and 25-year-old Robert Taylor.

All three suspects are charged with unlawful possession of a forged instrument.
