A Chinese sculptor dedicated a replica of Rodin's famous "The Thinker" statue at Troy University’s campus on Thursday.
Huo Baozhu of China gave Troy the statue a few years ago, but waited until now to formally dedicate it, due to sickness.
Officials say the statue is part of a project Hou started to say ‘thank-you’ to the U.S. Higher Education System, which he believes saved his life.
"The international students have added greatly to the quality of the educational experience at Troy University. We think ‘The Thinker’ symbolizes that growing friendship between China and the United States," says Troy Chancellor, Dr. Jack Hawkins.
Hou has donated several sculptures to universities throughout the U.S.
